Name: Joshua Eben

Parents: Mark and Kristin Eben

School: Valders High School

Year: Senior

GPA: 3.858

What extracurricular activities have you been involved with during high school? FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics, cross country, student council, Solar Olympics, National Honor Society, Peer Leaders, Peer Tutors, Sources of Strength

What is one academic accomplishment about which you feel particularly good? I am proud of my ability to maintain high honors while balancing all of my extracurriculars.

Which class or extracurricular activity influenced your decision regarding the career you plan to pursue? FIRST Robotics brought me into the realm of science and technology, and opened my eyes to my love for computers. Because of this, I am planning to go into computer engineering in the future.

What advice do you have for those just starting their high school career? Take it easy. Stressing about your grades won’t help them get better. When you focus on the learning rather than the letter grade, it opens countless doors of opportunity.

What are your plans after high school? I plan to go to a four-year college, and possibly pursue my master's or doctorate after that. I am looking to major in computer engineering, and possibly minor in software engineering.

What would you like to be doing 10 years from now? I would like to be working for a cutting-edge computer company, and surrounded by supporting friends and family.

Teacher recommendation: "Josh is a hard-working young man, driven by his dedication and determination. He is a strong leader in the classroom as well as on the robotics and athletic teams. Josh is inquisitive, often spending his time figuring out how things work. In the last four years, I have watched Josh grow into a confident mathematician, and I am excited to watch him achieve his goals." — Rachel Lensmire, mathematics teacher
